Case Study

Student Leadership Network called on ArcStone to create a website to better serve its audience and drive its mission forward.

Student Leadership Network provides educational opportunities for young people from diverse and underserved communities. They’ve been changing lives and working towards educational equity for nearly 25 years. In 1996, SLN started The Young Women’s Leadership School of East Harlem (TYWLS), the first all-girls school to open in the United States in thirty years.

Today, they operate dozens of single-gender schools nationwide and impact over 10,000 students every year. With a vision of expanding educational opportunities for underserved youth, SLN needed a website that was as exceptional as its work.

The Challenge:

Student Leadership Network sought a website redesign to improve the user experience for donors and partners and encourage volunteers and donations. They wanted a website that served as a hub for their community of parents, teachers, students, and more. The site they were operating on did not present their vision or who they were engagingly.

They wanted a sophisticated, polished site that showcased their compelling work and inspired their audiences. Functionality and accessibility were essential to the new website, so the SLN team worked to identify the issues with their current site so our team could address and resolve them.

Our Approach

Since we had worked with Student Leadership Network before, we approached the redesign collaboratively. We looked to their audiences to guide us through the redesign process.

The new website aimed to improve the user experience, so we needed to understand what the audiences wanted. Our redesign process always starts with thorough discovery, planning, and blueprint creation to gauge the project’s scope. While they, like most nonprofits, have multiple audiences, engaging donors and partners was a vital aspect of the redesign.

Our development and design team determined the most effective templates and best practices to engage with those audiences. We went into the redesign process with a clear view of goals and deliverables and leaned on the SLN team to help us use their vision to drive the project.

Reviewing The Results

We wanted to use our established relationship to execute a redesign project that met all their goals and would drive their mission forward. With such a critical vision and broad audience, Student Leadership Network needed a website to speak to its partners, beneficiaries, and donors.

The resulting website is interactive, user-friendly, and easy to navigate. SLN supports thousands of young people growing up in diverse and underserved communities, and we are thrilled to help them continue their incredible work.
