Ventura Housing (formerly Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura) is a California-based housing authority managing 1,000+ housing units and 1,500+ Section 8 vouchers. The organization needed a digital platform that could support their rebrand from HACSB to “Ventura Housing,” establish distinct search visibility, and effectively coordinate services for residents, housing applicants, community partners, and staff.

The Challenge:

Ventura Housing faced multiple challenges including an urgent October 2nd launch deadline tied to a community event, the need to rebrand from “HACSB” to “Ventura Housing” to eliminate search confusion with similarly-named businesses, and migrating from a proprietary CMS to WordPress while maintaining accessibility compliance. The organization also needed seamless integration with existing systems including Yardi RentCafe for property management, ArcGIS for mapping, and BoardDocs for governance documents, all while training 16 staff members across varying technical comfort levels.

Our Approach

Comprehensive URL mapping preserved search rankings during the domain transition from hacsb.org to venturahousing.org, while strategic SEO implementation established “Ventura Housing” as a distinctive, searchable identity free from acronym competition. We coordinated closely with Coverly Professional Services to ensure brand integration throughout the digital experience.

Reviewing the Results

Ventura Housing launched their improved website before the October 2nd community event, providing a modern platform that serves residents, applicants, and staff effectively. The accessibility-compliant platform ensures housing services are accessible to community members with disabilities, while the strategic rebrand and SEO implementation eliminated the acronym confusion that previously hampered search visibility.
