The Association for Psychological Type International (APTI) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to the understanding and application of psychological type theory. As an international membership organization, they advance the ethical use of type instruments and foster personal growth within the psychology profession.
APTI needed to modernize its digital presence to better serve a new generation of professionals while honoring its established legacy in the psychology field. The organization required a comprehensive rebrand and website redesign to remain relevant and engaging to today’s diverse membership.

The Challenge:
APTI’s legacy website and branding were creating barriers to growth and engagement. The outdated site struggled to appeal to Gen Y and Z professionals entering the field, with a navigation structure that was confusing for potential members and unclear entry points for non-members. Most critically, their visual identity conveyed rigidity through “boxed-in” design elements that contradicted APTI’s mission of nuance, ethics, and personal growth. The organization risked appearing stagnant despite being a dynamic, globally relevant association at the forefront of psychological type research and application.

ArcStone partnered with APTI to execute a comprehensive rebrand and digital transformation that would honor their professional legacy while positioning them as a forward-thinking organization. Our strategic approach balanced gravitas with energy, creating a fresh visual identity that avoided rigid “box” metaphors while maintaining the credibility essential for a psychology-focused professional association.
The website redesign prioritized user experience for APTI’s diverse audience segments, creating clear pathways for members, non-members, and prospective members. We built the new platform on WordPress with full WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility compliance, ensuring the site would be inclusive and accessible to all users.
Key technical implementations included a comprehensive sitemap redesign, custom interior page templates, Gravity Forms integration for seamless registration processes, and Events Calendar functionality to showcase APTI’s robust learning offerings. We also developed innovative content strategies, including a weekly meme initiative that modernizes their outreach without compromising professionalism.
