Grant Writing Resources for Nonprofit Organizations

A few days ago, we met with a client about a new project. They received a grant from the state to build awareness of their services. Woo-hoo! Like most nonprofits, money is tight and they're ready to fund new initiatives.

Grants are the life blood for nonprofit organizations. The funds enable organizations to expand programming, start new projects or provide services. This allows them to increase their impact and make meaningful community change.

One of the most incredible benefits of grants is that they are often tax-exempt. This means that nonprofits don't pay taxes on the money they receive. Also, grant fundraising may be eligible for matched funds from other organizations.

Grant Eligibility

Grant-eligible nonprofits include charities, foundations, churches, educational institutions, and other tax-exempt entities. The grant requirements vary based on the funding source and its goals.

To receive a grant, an organization must prove its need for the funds and create a plan on how they would use them. Often, they must provide documentation to prove the proposed initiatives' lasting impact. Finally, organizations may have to report their progress to ensure accountability.

Grants have a huge impact on nonprofits, but you must understand the process. Applying for a grant can be complex and time-consuming- but worth it. With careful research and planning, you can take your initiatives to the next level.
