This #BlackHistoryMonth we want to do what we can to provide support and allyship to Black communities in our city and around the country. Supporting Black-led organizations can look like purchasing from them, volunteering for them, or sharing their mission with your community.

Celebrating and supporting Black-owned organizations can be as simple as connecting with them and asking what they need. We want to use our platform to highlight Black-led nonprofits and Black-led organizations that are creating a more diverse and more inclusive nation one mission at a time.

FundBlackFounders.com

This online platform connects visitors with crowdfunding opportunities for Black-led organizations around the country.  The site gives Black entrepreneurs a chance to reach a broader audience and increase their funding. Check out their featured campaigns to support new businesses like Prosperity Market out of Los Angeles or Black-owned yoga studios like Embody Yoga.

Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery

MAAHG is a local Minnesota organization that preserves the precious history of Black communities in Minnesota. The museum is free to all and offers multi-level memberships to community members who are looking to help support their mission. The museum also serves as a community gathering place to meet and celebrate Black history.

Black Visions MN

Another local organization that we love is Black Visions MN. Black Visions MN is a Black-led, Queer and Trans-centered organization working towards its mission of organizing powerful and connected Black communities to dismantle systems of violence in Minneapolis.

With a vision of a healed and liberated Black future, Black Visions MN is driving forward campaigns like Yes 4 Minneapolis and Path Forward for sweeping change in the Minneapolis police department and building real safety for Black communities.

Black Church Food Security

Black Church Food Security is made up of churches in Black communities across the US that have come together with Black farmers and small business owners to create sustainable food systems for underserved communities. The organization is working toward the incredible mission of solving food and health challenges in communities across the nation.

Black History Month is about celebrating and supporting the Black communities that make up our cities and states. Being an ally means committing to the ongoing learning process and facing the challenges of taking the proper steps to change a society that is built on a foundation of inequality and racism.

Support these and every Black-led organization by continuing to seek out information on how to fight for their great missions!
