As the winds change and the spooky season starts, we ArcStonians put our duck boots and down jackets on to get out and see the Fall colors and porch pumpkins. This summer was extra hot here in Minnesota, so we are welcoming the cooler temps with open arms. Read on for some of our team’s favorite fall activities. And happy spooky season.

David's headshot-1I really like to go on a fall retreat. The last few years I’ve gone to either Pacem In Terris or the Shire In the Woods. I love alone time in the autumn forest. This is a great time of year to let your mind settle and create space for the quieter parts of yourself to bubble up. You can surrender and relax – let your thoughts drift and fall away just like the leaves falling from the trees.

SigFall is magical. Changing leaves remind us of a changing season and opportunity for growth. A time of rest and renewal. First off, I love the fall fashion – boots and turtle necks. As for fun fall activities, I love to sit on the patio at due focacceria in St. Paul sipping a delicious cappuccino and listening to a podcast or audiobook.

Morning walks around the lakes in Minneapolis with a cup of black coffee and insanely yummy Bogart’s donuts. I love going on hikes at William O’Brien State Park. If we are coming from the cities we like to stop in Stillwater for a deli sandwich from the Rivermarket Community Co-op.

Olivia DiercksIt usually takes me a while to surrender to fall. I’m a summer gal! But once I accept its arrival, I’m all in. Favorite activities include decorating my house with fall decor: pumpkins, fall-scented candles, and switching the summer wreath with lavender and white sprigs, to the fall wreath, donning autumnal leaves and pinecones.

I also love campfires with friends, neighbors, and family – making s’mores and cuddling up with blankets and big sweatshirts to fight off the nip in the air. And now that I have a kid, planning costumes for Halloween has taken on a whole new meaning!

ckostelecIt’s basic, but coffee and music while going on walks is what I do.

ilia3Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. Here in Minneapolis, it seems like that sentiment is widely shared. This part of the world is one of the most beautiful places to see the changing colors of Fall and it never fails to impress me.

Every year I like to drive up to the north shore, climb to the top of Enger Tower to see the leaves at an incredible vantage point, walk along the shores of Lake Superior, and enjoy a fire by the lake. Duluth is one of my favorite cities year-round, but especially in the Fall. I am a huge scary movie fan and I love Halloween so scary movie nights are a regular occurrence in my house, but during the month of October, I refuse to watch anything that doesn’t have blood or supernatural beings in it. I’m currently listening to scary podcasts like Radio Rental and Let’s Not Meet.

Driving through Minneapolis and St. Paul during Halloween to see all of the awesome Halloween decorations is a must this time of year.
