How ArcStone Approaches Environmental Stewardship

ArcStone has always valued environmental stewardship, but we knew we could do better. So starting in the summer of 2008, ArcStone drafted the Greenification Agenda:

Buy REC Offsets

We've calculated our yearly energy usage, which turns out to be about 103,000 pounds of C0₂. We've purchased Renewable Energy Credits to offset our usage.

Practice the Three R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)

Reduce

• Do not stock paper plates, plastic cutlery, or wax cups.
• Use washable hand towels instead of paper towels whenever possible.
• Purchase local products with less packaging and try to buy from green suppliers.
• Only use the printer when absolutely necessary.

Reuse

• Sell or donate old office equipment.
• Reuse printer paper for notetaking.

Recycle

• Use personal recycling bins for any recylable materials.
• Participate in electronic recycling events.
• Properly dispose of all other waste and/or equipment.
• Sponsor building-wide recycling.

Conserve Energy

Lights will only be turned on during business hours. All equipment is plugged into powerstrips that can be turned on and off. Use an adjustable thermostat to mimize reliance on heat.

Reward Sensible Commuting

ArcStone employees who use public transportation, foot power, pedal power, or who carpool into work more than three times a week will recieve a bonus Earth Day holiday.

Encourage Virtual Meetings

Use online virtual meeting platforms whenever possible to mimize road time. (This one saves us time as well.) We currently use Dim Dim; our clients don't even need to download the software for the meeting.

Use Green Cleaning Supplies

ArcStone will not buy cleaners with harmful chemical substances. (We never liked the smell of those harsh products anyway!)
